A little boosted information to share. Thought I'd revive this thread, rather than launch a new one.

Just noticed SmokingPipes has listed replacement screws for the lesser of Old Boys and also replacement tamps.

I have some small screwdrivers in a plastic case. The chapeau becomes a tray for me to work over for flintstone replacement and to take hold of the spiral when refilling the butane. Nevertheless somehow the spiral but disappeared i day. A call to SP led to two possible leads, a few emails later, there was one dead cease and one place that was able to help -- to the tune of only shy of 8-bucks. The ones from SP are less. I was pleased to see them and thought I'd allow others know. Hopefully they aren't needed oft -- or mayhap ever -- just if yous do here is an easy mode to become a replacement while getting more than tobacco, pipe cleaners and, yeah, pipes.

And so, I accept an unused (bought brand new about a yr or so agone) rusticated briar Former boy that has an issue with the spark spindle mechanism. It is too loose, and it just spins free, without causing a spark.

How exercise you get nigh repairing this problem? Information technology arrived this way, but unfortunately I never tried to use it until about 4 days ago. Thank you all for the guidance.

I realize information technology may be an inconvenience. Only, if the solution isn't readily obvious after looking it over, think that IM Corona has a two yr no-charge warranty.

Check and make sure the screw holding the striker wheel is tight. Information technology is a tiny screw visible in the eye of the striker cycle when viewed from the top looking direct down on the lighter.

A little additional data to share. Thought I'd revive this thread, rather than launch a new one.

Merely noticed SmokingPipes has listed replacement screws for the bottom of Quondam Boys and also replacement tamps.

I have some modest screwdrivers in a plastic case. The lid becomes a tray for me to work over for flint replacement and to take hold of the screw when refilling the butane. Still somehow the screw just disappeared i mean solar day. A call to SP led to two possible leads, a few emails after, there was ane dead stop and one place that was able to help -- to the tune of only shy of viii-bucks. The ones from SP are less. I was pleased to come across them and thought I'd permit others know. Hopefully they aren't needed often -- or maybe e'er -- but if yous practise hither is an like shooting fish in a barrel fashion to get a replacement while getting more tobacco, pipage cleaners and, aye, pipes.

for those of you in Europe Esterval's sell spares for the former boy, they will ship to Usa also

I tightened down the striker bicycle screw, but nevertheless no spark. Plus, I cannot hear the valve open to release the butane. What gives with this lighter? It literally has never been lit upwards. Any other advice?
